Join us for an unforgettable day tour that takes you on a journey through the rich culinary traditions of the Lasithi Plateau. Perfect for food enthusiasts and cultural explorers, this tour offers a hands-on experience in the art of Cretan cooking, set against the backdrop of Crete’s stunning landscapes.
Begin your day with a serene visit to the historic Kera Monastery. Take in the peaceful surroundings and explore the beautiful frescoes and architecture. Next, we head to the small village of Kaminaki, where you’ll source fresh ingredients directly from local gardens. Experience the farm-to-table concept firsthand as you pick the finest produce for your cooking class. Here, you will also have the unique opportunity to milk goats, connecting with the pastoral traditions of Crete.
Next, we stop at the picturesque village of Tzermiado, at a local taverna, where our cooking lessons will take place outdoors. Under the guidance of local chefs, learn to prepare authentic Cretan dishes like Dakos (a refreshing local dish with tomatoes and cheese), Dolmadakia (delicate vine leaves stuffed with a flavorful mixture of rice and herbs), Tzatziki (the classic Greek yogurt dip with cucumber, garlic, and herbs), and Mizithropitakia (delicious little pies filled with mizithra, a local cheese). Savor locally produced raki or Greek coffee as you cook.
After the cooking lesson, enjoy free time to explore Tzermiado. You can also extend your culinary experience by enjoying a meal at the local taverna, where every ingredient is sourced from the surrounding area, ensuring a fresh and authentic dining experience.
Experience with us the heart of Mediterranean cuisine, celebrated for its health benefits and exquisite flavors. The Cretan diet, a cornerstone of the Mediterranean culinary tradition and renowned for promoting longevity and well-being, emphasizes fresh, local ingredients and time-honored recipes passed down through generations. This tour not only teaches you to cook authentic dishes but also connects you with the culture and traditions that make Cretan cuisine so special!
