The Olive oil over the centuries and a traditional cooking workshop!
Itinerary:
Our friendly and local, professional driver will be waiting for you at the predetermined meeting point to pick you up and start the tour by taking you to the historic monastery of St.George located in Karidi village of Apokoronas!
There you will walk around the facilities and see the ruins of a 200 years old Olive mill. Following we will visit a modern olive oil factory where you will be guided and see the production process of the “gold” of Crete, the Olive oil!!! A folklore museum has been settled in the facilities where you will have the opportunity to see the tools that were used in the old years both in the collection of olives and in cooking. You will also taste olive oil with fresh rustic bread.
After that we will take the country side road under the “shadow” of the White Mountains of Crete to reach a farm with goats, sheep, chickens and vegetable gardens where we will start a cooking workshop to immerse the local food culture. We will eat the food that we will cook under the shades looking the Cretan colorful nature.
At the end, before we return you back, we will drive you on the top of a hill to admire a panoramic view that we strongly believe it worth it (Aptera Koules photo point).
